August 13, 1928 — April 22, 2022

Sidney Samuel Lewis, age 93, of Fallston, passed away on April 22, 2022 at Senator Bob Hooper House in Forest Hill. Born in Chicago, Illinois, he was the son of Irwin and Mildred (Wolf) Lewis and husband of Janet (Jarvis) Lewis.

Sid was joyfully married to Jan for 65 years. He loved spending time with Jan, his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was a very active member of Mountain Christian Church where he served as a deacon and a Bible study group founder and leader. He and Jan frequently volunteered at an area homeless shelter. The people in his "SGWNN" Bible study were like family to him. He and Janet loved singing in the choir for 25 years.

Sid was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving during the Korean Conflict. He retired in 1989 from LTV Steel Company after over 30 years of employment. After retirement, he worked independently as a consultant in industrial statistics. He was an adjunct professor in statistics at Carnegie Mellon University. He was very handy in home repair and at one time had a small side business in Pittsburgh in roof and window replacement. He volunteered as a tax aide for AARP for many years.

He and Jan traveled extensively throughout the world. He truly enjoyed his visits to Cancun and a photo safari in Tanzania, Africa. In their younger years, he enjoyed camping in Colorado. He was a private pilot and flew the family all over the country. Sid and Jan played bridge in a club for over 30 years. He enjoyed sailing, loved classical music and enjoyed playing sudoku.

In addition to his wife, Sid is survived by: children, Daniel Lewis and his wife Helen, Jeffrey Lewis and his wife Suzanne, Susan Madar, Thomas Lewis, David Lewis and his wife Michelle, 13 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren, brother, Charles Lewis and his wife Carol, and sister-in-law, Bonnie Lewis.
