Sandy Williams Holmes

Sandy Williams Holmes, age 73, of Baltimore, Maryland passed away on January 17, 2021 at Tessara of Brandon in Brandon, Florida. Born in Baltimore, Maryland, she was the daughter of the late William and Hazel (Jourdan) Williams. 

The Williams family moved to Aldino, Maryland when Sandy was six years old.  She was the youngest of four Williams children.  Her parents owned the Aldino General Store, which was a hub of activity and was a landmark in the community.  Sandy loved animals and was a cowgirl early in life, owning horses and a particularly onery pony named Toney.  Summers were spent, like many families, down at the shore.  Later in life, after her father died and mother aged, she became the steward of the Aldino property which was known for grand picnics, for family and friends alike, card games most every weekend and fresh vegetables from her garden.  

She was a 1966 graduate of Bel Air High School in Bel Air, Maryland.  She graduated from Flagler College in St. Augustine, Florida her Bachelor of Arts degree and then received her Masters in Social Work from University of Maryland.  She worked for 34 years for Maryland State Government as a Social Worker, including several years with Adult Protective Services.  As a social worker, she took many people under her wing and guided them through their struggles.     

She enjoyed spending time with her friends, traveling, golfing and gardening.  At her homes in Fells Point, she hosted a yearly Summer Solstice celebration that she held for about 20 years and was enjoyed by many of her family and friends.  She dearly loved New Orleans and her times spent there, winters in Florida at Anna Maria Island and trips to Portland, Maine.   

Sandra is survived by her sister, Nancy Lee Nett and her husband Tony; lifelong friends, Eunice B. Pearce and Valarie Pearce; a sister-in-law, Louise Williams and numerous loving nieces & nephews.

In addition to her parents, Sandy was preceded in death by sister, Jane Kager and her husband Frank, brother, William R. Williams, Jr., friend, Phillip Buckley Colston.
