Ruth Esther Schaefer

Ruth Esther Schaefer, age 72, of Bel Air, MD died on May 6, 2011 after a courageous battle with leukemia. Born in Queens, NY, she was the daughter of the late Leroy Sloan and Gertrude Beuerle Richardson. A graduate of St. John's Episcopal School of Nursing in 1959, she served as an OR nurse in multiple hospitals. Ruth later worked in Harford County Public Schools as a nurse for 25 years, including 21 years at Edgewood Middle and later retiring from C. Milton Wright. A charter member of Lord of Life Lutheran Church in Edgewood, she also taught Sunday school, was a scout leader and enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, traveling, gardening, swimming and camping.

Mrs. Schaefer is survived by her husband of 49 years, Henry Edward Schaefer Jr. of Bel Air, MD; daughter, Karen Lynn Corson and husband, Dominic, of Bel Air, MD; son, Steven Edward Schaefer and wife, Mary Joy, of Phoenix, MD; sisters, Rose Monard of Babylon, NY and Nancy Kicklighter of Atlanta, GA and preceded in death by beloved sister Theresa Schick. Ruth is also survived by grandchildren, Christina Lynn, Andrew Dominic and Natalie Grace Corson and Annika Marie and Christian Edward Schaefer.
