Ron Phelan

Ron Phelan, age 78, of Edgewood, MD, passed away on November 26, 2014 at Upper Chesapeake Medical Center in Bel Air, MD. Born in Chicago, IL, he was the son of the late Matthew William and Pearl Hunt Phelan. He retired, after 21 years, from the U.S. Air Force and then worked as a civilian at Aberdeen Proving Ground for 15 years. He was a member of Pleasant View Baptist Church and the American Legion Post #17 in Edgewood and volunteered at Hope Center of Maryland in Abingdon. He liked to read and spend time with his grandkids who he coached in sports activities.

Mr. Phelan is survived by his wife of 53 years, Chieko "Katie" Uechi Phelan; sons, Ronald J. Phelan and Doug Finger, both of Phoenix; daughters, Mary M. Ryan of Edgewood, Sandy K. Goins of Abingdon and Wendy R. Stephens of Belcamp; sister, Marilyn Jensen of Gilbertsville, KY; eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
