Richard Leon Yarish

September 22, 1958 — June 25, 2020

Richard Leon Yarish, age 61, of Towson, Maryland passed away on June 25, 2020 at his home. Born in New Jersey, he was the son of Leo and Genevieve (Nizborski) Yarish. He graduated from Florida international University in Miami Florida with a hospitality management degree and attended the Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, NY, one of the most prestigious culinary institutions in the country. Rich elevated the Blakehurst dining program to be one of the leaders in not only the Life Care Services company, but the entire senior living industry. He also competed in food competitions and attended the NY food show every year. He had a passion for preparing, cooking, and arranging food. Presentation was everything and he created stunning culinary masterpieces. Every year at Christmas, he would carve ice sculptures and create handmade gingerbread villages. He would melt down jolly ranchers to create stained glass windows.

He loved music and had a deep passion for playing the guitar and harmonica. Music was his world! Stuck in the 70’s he loved classic rock. He often performed at open mic nights in numerous bars. He was an entertainer, playing music and even tried his hand at standup comedy. He was a total beach bum. His home was the Jersey Shore, but he also loved visiting Ft. Lauderdale, FL and beach trips with his friend Richy. Rich loved riding his motorcycle with his friends, enjoyed shooting guns at steel targets with his good friend, Mark Laubner. He enjoyed going to Atlantic City, NJ to gamble and go out with his friends, Chris and Kristi Young and any chance he had to spend quality time with his lifelong friend Bobby D’alia. Rich was a loyal friend and an exceptional father. Always played the role of a father, but also a best friend you could talk to.

Richard is survived by his sons, Cody Yarish of San Diego, CA and Tayler Yarish of Long Island City, NY; and sister, Debbie Radice.
