Regina Heim

April 14, 1930 — December 28, 2019

Regina M. Heim, age 89, of Forest Hill, formerly of Parkville, passed away on December 28, 2019 at Hart Heritage in Forest Hill, MD. She was the daughter of Paul and Elsie Moran. Born near the beginning of the Great Depression in 1930, she lived in Baltimore area all of her life. She lived on Chesterfield Avenue with her parents and brothers Paul and Bern until after high school. Jeanne attended Shrine of the Little Flower Elementary School and The Catholic High School of Baltimore. After high school she worked in various businesses which included CSX Railroad, seamstress, bank teller and car dealers. The longest part of her career was with CSX Railroad where she worked in accounts receivable and billing.

She married in 1951 and was divorced in 1955. She is the mother of Melissa Heim Barnickel and F. Carter Heim. In 1959 the family moved to Texas Ave in Parkville where Melissa and Carter attended St. Ursula’s Elementary School and Parkville Junior and Senior High Schools. Jeanne lived in Parkville until 2010.

A devout Catholic, she enjoyed sewing, reading, and traveling which was always her passion, sometimes with groups or with friends and family, or on her own. She took trips to Hawaii, Canada, Spain, Germany and Medjugorje in Herzegovina when it was part of Yugoslavia. The ocean and swimming were a highlight for her, and she greatly enjoyed family events, walking and camping.

Foreign languages were a true fascination for her after learning Spanish in high school and continued into adulthood with adult education at Parkville Senior High School. While taking Spanish, she developed a strong friendship with Susana Guzman, with whom she traveled to Spain multiple times. For a period of time she assisted in teaching the Spanish classes.
She enjoyed fresh flowers and music. Way back when, she liked Lena Horne, Louie Armstrong, Herb Alpert and the Tijuana Brass.

In addition to her children, she is survived by four grandchildren, Annemarie, Jocelyn, Jonathan and Lacey who are all married and living in Philadelphia, York, Annapolis and Odenton. Her five great-grandchildren, Benjamin, Maddox, Kayleigh, Katherine and Maverick live with their parents in York, Annapolis and Odenton.

The family would prefer not to receive flowers. Those who desire may contribute to Amedisys Hospice of the Greater Chesapeake, 7106 Ridge Road, Suite 140, Rosedale, MD 21237.
