Patricia Ann Malone

December 19, 1938 — March 9, 2023

Patricia Ann Bates Malone, 84, of Street MD, passed away peacefully on March 9, 2023. Pat, as she was called, was born on December 19, 1938, in Philadelphia, PA. She was the eldest of five children born to Patrick and Margaret Bates in Northeast Philly. Pat attended the Episcopal Hospital School of Nursing in Philadelphia, where she received an award for Outstanding Achievement in Medical-Surgical Nursing. Pat met Francis Thomas “Tom” Malone at a party to celebrate Tom's return from Germany with the US Army and the two were married shortly thereafter. Tom and Pat moved to Reisterstown, MD, where their three sons, Tom, Mike, and Bill, were born. In 1973, the Malone family moved to a farmette in Street, MD, right outside of Bel Air in Harford County. For over 40 years Pat had a rewarding career as a top Surgical Nurse Practitioner at St. Joseph Hospital in Towson, MD. Her desire for learning never ceased, she took advanced nursing courses at Notre Dame of Maryland University for most of her career. She was well known for having the most beautifully decorated Christmas tree and made legendary meatballs and crab dip. She loved nothing more than hosting family get togethers and was extremely generous and caring. Pat loved vacationing near the shore. She was especially fond of Rock Hall and Tolchester, MD and the Outer Banks, NC.

Pat was predeceased by her parents, her husband of 58-years, Tom, and her brother, Lenny Bates (Barrie). She is survived by her sons Tom, his wife Barbara and their children Ian and Barbara; Mike, his wife Jen, and their children Lauren Majchrzak (George) and Ryan; and Bill, his wife Anne, and their children Kate and Will; her brothers Rich Bates (Pat) and Mike Bates (Becky) and sister Bobbie Gardner (Charlie) as well as in-laws Helen Ernst (Ed), Dorothy Malone and Nancy Malone and many nieces and nephews. Pat was loved very much by her children and grandchildren and will be dearly missed.

A memorial service is being planned for this spring.
