Nance Ann Leslie

February 18, 1942 — January 17, 2019

Nance Ann Leslie, age 76, of Belcamp, MD passed away on January 17, 2019 at her residence in Belcamp, MD. Born in Brockton, MA, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Mary “Alice” (Leary) Moncey. Nance lived most of her life in Avon, MA, before moving to Belcamp, MD in 2001.

Nance received an associate degree from Northeastern University in Boston in 1961. She started her 45-year career as an x-ray and mammography technician at Goddard Hospital in Brockton, MA, then moving onto the Goddard Clinic and the Raynham Health Clinic in Raynham, MA. When she moved to Maryland, she worked for Advanced Radiology at St Joseph’s Hospital in Towson and retired from there in 2007.

Nance was known for her outgoing, warm personality, strong work ethic, and wonderful sense of humor; she could always be heard laughing. After moving to Maryland, she quickly earned the nickname “Nance Boston” because of her strong Boston accent. She was a cherished member of Mt Zion United Methodist church in Bel Air, and loved attending Bible studies, the Senior Fellowship group and singing in the choir.

Nance loved decorative painting and filled her home with her beautiful painted furniture and art work; she loved painting treasured gifts for her many friends and family. She also loved to travel with her family and traveled all over Europe, the Caribbean islands, Alaska and Mexico.

In 1985, Nance gave her will and her life over to her Lord and Savior. She celebrated over 33 years of sobriety with Alcoholic Anonymous (AA) and was very well known in the rooms of Harford County AA. She made it her mission to help other AA members, opening her home for many years to countless people new in recovery to help them get on their feet.

Nance is survived by her daughter, Kerrin Dame of Abingdon, MD; son, Joseph (Mary) Dame of Silver Lake, NH; granddaughter, Erin Dame of Abingdon, MD; two grandsons, Thomas and Elijah Dame of Silver Lake, NH; two sisters, Luice Moncevitch of Mattapoisett, MA and Brenda (William) LaBrie of Middleboro, MA; brother, John Moncey of Clearwater, FL; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Jean Roby, and brother, Paul Moncey.
