Mary Sue Hughes

Mary Susan Hughes (Mary Sue), age 68, of Bel Air, Maryland passed away on January 12, 2023 peacefully at her home. Born in Essex, Maryland, she was the youngest daughter of Dewey and Mary Wedderien. She enjoyed being a homemaker and an was a dedicated Army wife. Mary loved children, whether it be neighborhood kids, or the Cub Scouts that would meet in her home, they would flock to her for some homemade cookies and to pet her little dog, Isabella. Mary was a talented Majorette and was in the marching band in high school where she participated in parades and even received a charm bracelet from the Baltimore Bullets after she twirled fiery batons at halftime for the fans. She enjoyed going to the casino and playing scratch offs with her girlfriend, her husband nicknamed them “Itchy and Scratchy”. She will be missed.

Mary is survived by her husband of 46 years, Patrick Hughes; son, Padrick Pearce Hughes; daughter-in-law, Katarina Hughes; grandchildren, Sophia Hughes, and Mackenzie Hughes; brother, James Wedderien; and her little dog, Isabella.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings, Ron Morris, Karen Black, Amanda Bell and Dewey Wedderien, Jr.
