Mary Louise Boniface

February 11, 1918 — August 9, 2009

Mary Louise Boniface, age 91, of Glen Arm, MD, formerly of Bel Air, died on August 9, 2009 at Glen Meadows Retirement Community in Glen Arm, MD. Born in Bel Air, MD, she was the daughter of the late John William and Mary Bruns Anderson, and wife of the late William Boniface. With his background as the racing editor of the Sun paper, Bill and Mary established Bonita Farm in 1963. Mary ran the tack shop and was hostess and tour guide for many years. She was a lifelong member of St. Ignatius Catholic Church and a recovering member of Alcoholics Anonymous for over 30 years. Gin rummy was her game, and she ran an "infamous" gin tournament for several generations. A great cook, Mary made sure you had a cake or pie for all special occasions. Eggnog and Sunday brunches were her specialty. Crab feasts always marked Bill's birthday in July. Guests ranged in age from 2 to 92. Mary's gift of hospitality knew no limits.

Mrs. Boniface is survived by her son, J. William Boniface and wife, Joan, of Darlington, MD; daughter, Ann Marie Bengel and husband, Charles, of Towson, MD; sister, Katherine "DeDe" Anderson of Bel Air, MD; grandchildren, William Kennard Boniface, Kevin Charles Boniface, John Boniface, Kim Michelle Boniface, K. Bonita Boniface, Christopher Gordon Bengel, and Stephanie J. Kousouris; and great-grandchildren, William, Benjamin, Bethany, Michelle, Fritz, and Sydney Boniface, Luke Bengel, and Abby and John Kousouris. In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her brothers, John B. Anderson, William H. Anderson, and Thomas E. Anderson.

Pallbearers will be John, William, Fritz, and Benjamin Boniface, Brady Chrismer, Tom Close, Bill Gootee, and Robert McDonough.
