Mary Frances Jarvis

Mary Frances Jarvis (nee Blackburn) passed away peacefully early Christmas Morning. She was predeceased by her husband Kyle Bruce Jarvis in 1980, and by her brothers Joe Dean, Kenneth, and Richard. At the age of 3, Mary moved from North Carolina to Maryland with her parents Spencer and Ethel Blackburn and brother Kenneth and was a life-long resident of Harford County. She was the last surviving member of the 20-person 1943 class of Jarrettsville High School. As a teen, she volunteered with the Aircraft Warning Service to spot airplanes during WWII. Following graduation, she was employed by the Martin Company in Middle River. She also worked at The Hub on Main Street in Bel Air and at Epstein’s Department Store in Joppatowne for many years. She loved to travel, and never wanted to close her eyes because “she might miss something”. She cherished her many friendships at work and at Harford Senior Housing, where she lived for many years.

Mary is survived by two sons, David (Shirley) Jarvis of Selma, N.C. and Dean (Terri) Jarvis of Darlington, MD; daughter Nancy (Arnold) Lester of Grants Pass, OR; five grandchildren, Dr. Tamara (William) Powell of Oregon, Matthew (Lisa) Jarvis and Terry (Tara) Jarvis of North Carolina, Andrew (Misti) Jarvis of Pennsylvania, and Andrea (Jason) Nobile of Maryland; and six great-grandchildren, Carrington, Olivia, Madeleine, Collin, Jaimeson, and Bailey. Mary is also survived by her sisters Maxine Jenkins, Ruby Schmidt, and Diana (Bill) Lynch; her brother Donald (Mildred) Blackburn; sisters-in-law Mary Ellen and Edith Blackburn; and many nieces and nephews.

She was a beloved Wife, Mother, Sis, Grandma, GiGi, Aunt and friend.

The family would like to thank all who cared for Mary at Sterling Care Riverside.

She had a long, happy life, adored by her family, and will be missed by all her family and friends.
