Letcher C. ''Dick'' Maines

Letcher C. "Dick" Maines, age 84, of Joppa, MD, passed away on May 21, 2014 at his home. Born in Independence, VA, he was the son of the late Emory Elmore and Lillie Mae Hash Maines. A veteran of the U.S. Army, he served our country during the Korean War after which he received the Service Medal with 3 Bronze Stars. He retired from the Automotive Test Center of Aberdeen Proving Ground.

Mr. Maines is survived by his wife, Barbara Ewers Maines; daughters, Elizabeth "Liz" Hahn of Aberdeen and Teresa Kirkendall of Havre de Grace; son, Richard "Rick" Maines of Aberdeen; brother, William "Bill" Maines of Aberdeen; stepchildren, Charles Ewers of Churchville and Faye Wilkinson of Perry Hall; grandchildren, Joseph Bandy, Justin Vincenti, Jordan and Jacob Kirkendall; great-grandchildren, Jade and Lila Vincenti; and step-grandsons, Gregory Meise and Hunter Hughes.
