Lesly Willer Dimanche Sr.

May 6, 1960 — December 31, 2019

Our family is appreciative of all of the support. This going home party could not have happened without our family and friends generosity and support, during our time of loss. A special thanks to the nursing staff at Genesis, Gilchrist, and the McComas Funeral Homes staff.

Lesly Willer Dimanche Sr., age 59, born in Port-au-Prince, Haiti, was the son of Willer Dimanche Sr. and the late Immacula Dimanche. Lesly was raised in Brooklyn and Queens New York.

Lesly graduated from Andrew Jackson High School in Queens, NY. He loved to play basketball and he played well enough to earn a scholarship to attend and play for Eastern New Mexico University (ENMU). It was at ENMU that he pledged and became a brother of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity Incorporated (Fall '82). When he wasn’t playing basketball, studying, or enjoying music, he was exploring the Southwestern region and its culture with his friends. He and his college friends enjoyed road tripping, exploring, having fun, and enjoying one another’s company.

After spending some time out West, Lesly transferred to Adelphi University to continue his studies. He then graduated and moved to Maryland. Lesly was good with numbers so it was natural for him to start, and ultimately finish his career in Finance. In the middle of his finance career, he made a change and became a Correctional Officer and then later Police Officer. Ultimately, he returned to his comfort zone and quickly climbed the corporate ladder in the Finance industry before opening his own mortgage company.

On Sundays, Lesly enjoyed attending St. Francis De Sales masses with his family. He also took pleasure in actively participating in community services with his parish and his fraternity. Lesly was a third degree Mason. He was also a great exemplar, provider and adored his children. When it came to them, he found a way to make every honors celebration, school concert, every game, and even most practices. Sometimes during tournaments he would even return home with extra players: the kids just loved Lesly. Many have said he treated them like family.

Lesly is predeceased by his mother, Mrs. Immacula Dimanche. He leaves to cherish his memory his father Mr. Willer Dimanche Sr.; his loving former wife Yvette; his sons, Lesly Willer Dimanche Jr. and Yves Cadet Dimanche; daughter, Ariel Marie (Christopher )Reuther; sisters, Luzinska (Darly)Dimanche-Romain and Nerland Dimanche; brothers, Willer (Felicia) Dimanche Jr. and Marcel Joseph Dimanche; grandchildren, Christopher Michael Reuther, Jr. and Bailey Barbara Reuther; Uncles, Aunts, Nephews, Nieces, Cousins, God-children and a host of friends.
