Karen Elise Violante

September 26, 1954 — January 8, 2020

Karen Elise Violante (Campbell), 65, of Bel Air, Maryland passed away on Jan. 8, 2020.

Karen will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, and friend. She is survived by her husband Paul Nicholas Violante, son Tod Nelson Street, daughter-in-law Salina Street, granddaughter Devin Street, son Camaron, granddaughter Hanna, son Paul Nicholas Violante II, daughter-in-law Stephanie Violante, granddaughter Cecelia Violante, daughter Bianca Antoinette Anderson, son-in-law Tyler Anderson, son Brenton Doyle Violante, and family dog Kaiah, as well as her brothers, nieces and nephews, mother-in-law, sisters-in-law, and brothers-in-law.

She was the kind of person who would bring light with her wherever she went, flashing her smile to loved ones and strangers alike, and sprinkling her laughter around. She was also known to break out into dance often, no matter how embarrassing it was to her children. Music brought her soul to life.

Karen was a genuine character through and through -- she stood up for what she believed in and loved deeply, without reservation. She was the kind of woman who taught her children and grandchildren that it’s okay to be sensitive and show emotion, while also empowering them to command respect and remain true to themselves in all situations, no matter how tough. She believed in her children with all of her heart, knowing that they would grow up and follow their dreams, and she would remain their biggest fan.

She’d be the first to tell you she wasn’t perfect, but she tried. She found joy in helping others and supporting those around her, as evident by her devotion to her children, grandchildren and husband. Although she did love her jewelry, shoes and handbags, she believed that a smile is the best accessory.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that those who wish to honor Karen please donate to the University of Maryland Greenebaum Comprehensive Cancer Center’s Lung Cancer Fund.
