On November 16, 2016, Juanita Grain Garten of Timonium, MD; daughter of the late Edwin E. Grain and Viola S. Grain; beloved wife of the late Dr.William Garten; beloved and devoted mother of Steven M. Sengstacke and Christopher F. Sengstacke; dear mother-in-law of Diane Henning Sengstacke; Devoted sister of the late Janet Unger, Doris Cox and Edwin E. Grain. Also survived by her two grandchildren Allison M. Sengstacke and Pvt. James C. Sengstacke-United States Army.

Mrs. Garten was a graduate of Eastern High School in Baltimore, MD. She attended Secretarial College going on to work for Bendix Radio, Local 543 American Federation of Musicians, Triumph Motorcycle Co. and worked for over twenty-five years as an Senior Executive Administrative Assistant for American Totalizator Co. and retired from the General Instrument Co.

Mrs. Garten enjoyed traveling and took several trips throughout the US and Europe with her late husband Bill. She also had a passion for writing, music, cooking and entertaining. She hosted many dinners for family and friends all year and especially around the holidays. Mrs. Garten was also involved with the League of Women Voter's for many years.

The family has asked that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Mrs. Garten's name to the Maryland Center of the Arts, PO Box 687, Bel Air, MD 21014. The website is www.harfordcfa.org.
