Joyce B. High

Joyce B. High, age 80, of Bel Air, MD, went home to be with her Lord and Savior for eternity on Monday, September 13, 2010. A native of Franklin County, NC, she was one of seven children born to the late Albert and Hattie Batton. Joyce was married 54 years to Lawrence B. High until his death in 2003.

A committed Christian, the joys of her life were her family and helping others. She was a dedicated member of Oak Grove Baptist Church in Bel Air, and previously was a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church in Essex, and Reisterstown Baptist Church. Joyce worked more than 30 years at Lever Brothers in Dundalk before her retirement in 1990.

She is survived by two loving children and their families; daughter, Joyce Carol and her husband, John Thomas, of Bel Air, MD; and son, Lawrence and his wife, Jo Ellen, of Raleigh, NC; four grandchildren, Jeff Thomas and wife, Sarah, of Bel Air, MD, David Thomas and wife, Jenn, of Forest Hill, MD, Billy Mitchell and wife, Erica, of Raleigh, NC, and Cameron Tatone and husband, Lance, of Asheville, NC. Joyce is also survived by six great-grandchildren, Lucas Thomas, and Kylie and Ian Nitz, all of Bel Air, MD, Madison Thomas of Forest Hill, MD, Brittany Mitchell of Raleigh, NC, and Steve and Rob Tatone of Asheville, NC; and a sister, Gaynell and husband, Ormond, of Raleigh, NC. In addition, many wonderful nieces and nephews remain to cherish her memory.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial donations be made to the Oak Grove Baptist Church Building Fund, 2106 Churchville Road, Bel Air, MD 21015 or Maddie's Miracles, 100 Chestnut Hill Road, Forest Hill, MD 21050.
