Joy Kistler Torbit, age 87, of Bel Air, Maryland, formerly of Kent Island passed away on September 30, 2021 at Senator Bob Hooper House in Forest Hill, Maryland. Born in Prince George County, Virginia, she was the daughter of Norman and Catherine (Campbell) Kistler and wife of the late William Jarrett Torbit, Jr. Joy held many jobs over her lifetime. She was a school bus driver, dump truck driver, Magistrate, taxi driver and a school bus aide in Queen Anne’s County. She was a member of Christ Church Parrish on Kent Island and loved homestead farming raising goats, chickens, geese and making her own cheeses. Joy enjoyed reading as her lifelong passion.

Joy is survived by her son, Robert Shawn (Lee Ann) Franklin; grandchildren, Garrett (June) Franklin, Nicole (Innocent) Mbasela; and great grandchildren, Charlotte Franklin and Cree Tagam.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her son, William Bruce Franklin.
