Jane M. Mead

Jane M. Mead, age 78, of Bel Air, Maryland passed away on March 1, 2021 at her home. Born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of Ralph and Laura (Stepp) Henk. She graduated from Indiana State College in PA in June of 1964 and she and her husband started teaching locally in Harford County in 1965. She taught in public schools in Harford County for 3 years. After her kids were grown, she taught at St. Matthews Lutheran Preschool teaching 4-year-olds for 25 years. Jane was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Bel Air for 43 years. She was actively involved in teaching in the preschool department and vacation bible school. She was a Deaconess and chairperson of the Deaconess’ and served on the personnel committee.

Jane is survived by her husband John (Jack) Mead; daughter, Jonna M. Armstrong (Michael); son, Jeffrey M. Mead; brother, Harold Henk (Sarah); sister, Dolores A. Shoop; and grandchildren, Olivia and Coleman Armstrong.

The family will be hosting a memorial service at Calvary Baptist Church on Saturday, March 20, 2021 with a gathering at 10 am followed by services at 11 am.
