Irene Joan Drozd

Irene Joan Drozd, age 86, of Forest Hill, Maryland passed away on January 3, 2023, at Forest Hill Heights in Forest Hill, Maryland. Born in Baltimore City, Maryland, she was the daughter of Thomas and Catherine (Bach) Taylor and wife of 39 years to the late Raymond Drozd. She was a registered nurse acquiring her bachelor's degree with the Bon Secours Sisters. Joan, as she preferred to be called, was then known as Sister Therese while she worked as a nursing nun for the next ten years in France. After leaving the convent Joan met the love of her life, Raymond Drozd, the couple married and had one son Roman Bernard Drozd who died at the age of 19. Joan enjoyed a happy life with her career in nursing, enjoying her family and friends, and still made time for various activities such as painting, sewing, stained glass, and ballroom dancing with her husband.

Joan is survived by her husband’s niece Nicole Drozd Bradley and her family; Brother in law Gilbert William Prager and family and her cousin Joan Marie Steele (Joan's namesake). She will be missed especially by her long-time friend Jeannie Breitenbach.
