Irene Cook

Irene Cook, age 86, of Joppa, Maryland passed away on August 27, 2020 at the Senator Bob Hooper House in Forest Hill, Maryland. Born in Shelby Gap, Kentucky, she was the daughter of Howard and Hattie (Wright) Oaks. A homemaker, she was a member of Sovereign Grace Church. Irene enjoyed gardening, cooking, baking, reading the Bible, walking and spending time with her grandchildren.

Irene is survived by her husband of 62 years as of August 30, 2020, James Dale Cook; daughter, Teresa Lynn Cook-Simpkins and husband, Curtis Michael Simpkins; sons, James Daniel Cook and wife, Karyn and Phillip Dale Cook and wife, Maria; brothers, Howard "Junior" Oaks, Ernest Oaks, David Oaks and Aubrey Oaks; and grandchildren, Sierra (Cook) Wells, Daniel, Aaron and Joshua Cook.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Carl and Clifford Oaks and sisters, Melba White, Melster Hall and Shirley Atkins.
