Ingrid F. Caughron

September 18, 1939 — April 20, 2021

Mrs. Ingrid Caughron was born in Erbes-Budesheim, Rhineland-Palantine, Germany on September 18, 1939. Her parents were Peter Josef and Anna Johanna Maria Koltes. She had one sister, Brigitte who was born in 1941. Ingrid spent her youth and school years in Erbes-Budesheim and Alzey, Germany. She and her sister Brigitte lost their parents when they were very young; her mother died in 1949 and her father in 1952. As a result, the two sisters were brought into their father's brother's family. Ingrid and Brigette grew up on a farm with her cousins, where she enjoyed the farm fields and vineyards. She was especially happy when she could be around horses and playing with a handcart with her sister. Ingrid and her sister were very close, often borrowing each other's clothing and getting into mischief. After grade school, she attended college in Alzey, Germany in which she obtained a degree in Accounting.

She later relocated to Bad Kreuznach, Germany where she met her husband Willie Ray Caughron at a dance in 1961 and they became engaged shortly thereafter, Willie was a U.S. Army soldier and due to various relocations, began a world traveling lifestyle for Ingrid and her family. After giving birth to her daughter Kathy in Germany, Ingrid relocated to the United States for the first time in 1963 to San Antonio, Texas where her two sons Lee and Bill were born. From there, between 1964-1977, Ingrid traveled the world and lived on military bases at Ft. Hood, Texas; Fairfax, Virginia; Fort Amador, Panama; Jonesboro, Arkansas; Mons, Belgium; Aberdeen, Maryland; and finally, Edgewood Maryland.

Ingrid became a Naturalized United States Citizen on June 13, 1967. In 1977, Ingrid became suddenly widowed when her husband Willie Ray Caughron, of Harrisburg, Arkansas passed away. Ingrid chose to remain in Edgewood, Maryland and raise her children as a single parent. She purchased a home in Edgewood and made it a priority that her children receive a good education. Ingrid began working at the Edgewood Arsenal military base as a Bookkeeper for AAFES, a U.S. Army Post Exchange, from which she retired in 2002. She received many awards for her accounting skills, was very active in her children' school activities and sports, and created a very large circle of lifelong friends.

Ingrid enjoyed reading, gardening, watching birds, playing video games, and cooking. Ingrid was a hilarious prankster and April 1st was a favorite "holiday" of hers. She had a lifelong love of horses and all animals. She was preceded in death by her beloved Labrador dog Princess. Ingrid maintained a close relationship with her sister Brigette and brother-in-law Jurgen and Skyped weekly with them and they made regular trips from Germany to the United States to visit her, most recently in September 2019 to celebrate her 80th birthday. Ingrid passed away peacefully, with family by her side, on April 20, 2021.

Ingrid leaves behind a large loving family to include her 3 children Kathy Ryan and husband Patrick of Gig Harbor, WA; Lee Caughron and wife Jennifer of Annapolis, MD; and Bill Caughron and wife Daniela of Pylesville, MD. She also had 8 grandchildren she adored: Matthew, Daniel, Joshua, Jessica, Emily, Samantha, Juliane, and Nathaniel. She has one nephew Manfred Zimmermann of New York and her beloved sister Brigitte and brother-in-law Jurgen of Mainz, Germany. Ingrid was preceded in death by her husband Willie Caughron and her nephew Rainer Blaschke.

We love and miss you mom.
