Harold Herman Betsworth Sr.

Harold Herman Betsworth Sr., age 90, of Edgewood, MD, died on June 9, 2011 at Perry Point Veterans Hospital in Perry Point, MD. Born in Merrill, IA, he was the son of the late Harold Dewey and Dorothy Johanna Elsen Betsworth and husband of 48 years to the late Marie Lucille Betsworth. A 28 year veteran of the U.S. Army, he served during WWII and in France, Germany, Alaska, Israel, Kentucky, Colorado, Maryland, Japan, and New York. After leaving the military, he worked as a heavy machinery mechanic and also for the U.S. Government. He was a member of the Masons, VFW, American Legion, and the Elks Lodge.

Mr. Betsworth is survived by his sons, Robert W. Betsworth of Hebron, MD and Harold H. Betsworth Jr. and wife, L. Michelle, of Raleigh, NC; daughter, Dorothy L. Moore and husband, Charles C., of Fallston, MD; sister, Delores L. Schmitz of Ontario, CA; and grandchildren, Justin A. King of Bel Air, MD, Charla R. and Kayla R. Moore, both of Fallston, MD and Wesley W. and Travis A. Betsworth, both of Raleigh, NC. In addition to his parents and wife, he was predeceased by his brother, Maurice L. Betsworth.
