Gilbert ''Gib'' Grayson Owen Sr.

Gilbert "Gib" Grayson Owen Sr., age 85, of Joppa, MD, died on April 26, 2011 at Upper Chesapeake Medical Center in Bel Air, MD. Born in Rugby, VA, he was the son of the late Grover Marvin Owen and Celia Jane Reedy. Mr. Owen was a disabled veteran of WWII when he became an amputee at the age of 18. He worked as a carpenter in the home improvement business and was a life member of the VFW Post #5838 in Joppatowne, and DAV #30 of Bel Air. At one time, he was very active in both organizations.

Mr. Owen is survived by his wife of 46 years, Barbara (Richardson) Owen of Joppa, MD; son, Gilbert G. Owen Jr. of Joppa, MD; daughter, Lisa C. Owen, and grandsons, Justin Rockel and Eric Pindell, all of Joppa, MD; sisters, Alta Richardson of Joppa, MD, Ruby Kilby, Violet Weaver and Stella Testerman, all of Mouth of Wilson, VA. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brothers, Earl, Lawrence, and Blake Owen.
