Francis T. Malone, Jr.

October 13, 1941 — May 10, 2022

Francis Thomas Malone, Jr. was born on October 13, 1941, in the Govans neighborhood of Baltimore, to parents Francis Thomas Sr. and Dorothy (nee Martin) Malone. Tom, as he went by, attended Calvert Hall College High School, prior to serving his country admirably as a Sergeant in the US Army, largely in Germany during the Berlin Conflict. Tom married Patricia Ann Bates in May of 1964. Tom and Pat had three boys, Tom, Mike, and Bill. The Malones relocated from Reisterstown to Street (just outside of Bel Air, Harford County), in 1972, and raised the family on a 7-acre gentleman’s farm, where he loved nothing more than hosting get-togethers with friends and family.  Tom was well-known for his homemade crab soup and always preferred to steam his own crabs. He was a consummate joke teller with an infectious laugh.  More than anything, Tom genuinely and unconditionally loved his friends and family, by whom he was surrounded on Tuesday evening, May 10, when he peacefully passed on.

Tom was predeceased by his parents and survived by his wife of 58 years, Patricia Ann (nee Bates) Malone; sons Tom, his wife Barbara and their children Ian and Barbara; Mike, his wife Jen, and their children Lauren and Ryan; and Bill, his wife Anne, and their children Kate and Will; sisters Dorothy Malone, Nancy Lee Malone, and Helen Ernst (Ed); in-laws Rich (Pat) Bates; Len, deceased, (Barrie) Bates; Bobbie (Charlie) Gardner, and Mike (Becky) Bates; and his best friend of 48 years, Don (Diane) Androsky.

A celebration of Tom’s life is being planned for a TBD future date.
