Elizabeth Rose Niswonger

Elizabeth Rose Niswonger, age 99, of Aberdeen, Maryland passed away on October 8, 2022 at University of Maryland Medical Center in Baltimore, Maryland. Born in Ashe County, North Carolina, she was the daughter of Horace and Mattie (Johnston) Moretz and wife of the late Harvey Niswonger. She was a member of the Aberdeen Senior Center, Grace United Methodist Church and The Golden Age Club in Aberdeen. Elizabeth was an avid quilter and reader and enjoyed crossword puzzles and selling vegetables in front of her house. She loved cooking and baking and hosted every Easter, Thanksgiving, and Christmas dinner.

Elizabeth is survived by her daughters, Carol M. (Calvin) Gibbs and Nancy Jean Collins; son, James Dale (Peyton) Niswonger; daughter-in-law, Terry Niswonger; grandchildren, Shelly (Greg) Niswonger-Snyder, Amanda (Noah) Leeson, Danielle Smith, Brian (Amber) Wolf, Craig Gibbs, Shaun (Joy) Kelly and Casey Collins; and 13 great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her son, David Glen Niswonger, brothers, Elwin Moretz and Joseph Moretz and grandchildren, Justin Gibbs and Katrina Kelly.
