Elizabeth "Betty" Anne Van Arsdale (Nee Navitt)

Elizabeth "Betty" Anne Van Arsdale (nee Navitt), age 91, of Bel Air, Maryland passed away on February 6, 2021 at Upper Chesapeake Medical Center in Bel Air, Maryland. Born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of the late Leo and Marie (White) Navitt and wife of the late Ellsworth “Van” Van Arsdale. A proud teacher at East Lansdowne Elementary School for more than 40 years, she enjoyed keeping in touch with many of her students via Facebook. Betty loved traveling and photography, and in her later years going to bingo, taking occasional trips to casinos, and playing the lottery – always deferring to her tried and true numbers (anniversaries and birthdays). Above all else, she loved her family. Starting in the 1950’s, Betty knitted over 30 Christmas stockings as her family grew, finishing her final ones in January 2021 for each of her great granddaughters.

Betty is survived by her children, Kathy Burr and her husband Brian, Nancy Van Arsdale-Briody and her husband Tom, Matthew Van Arsdale and his wife Joanne; grandchildren, Andrew Burr and his wife Leann, Allison Burr-Livingstone and her husband Andrew, Nick Briody and his wife Caroline, and Brooke Briody and her partner Steven Kim; 4 great grandchildren; and sister, Joan Verna.

Interment will take place at a later date at St. Peter and Paul Cemetery in Springfield, PA.
