Dr. Cathy O'Connor

On July 25, 2019, Dr. Cathy O'Connor, age 89, of Bel Air, MD passed away at Stella Maris Hospice. Beloved mother of Francie M. O'Connor-Glidden and husband, Rowan; Mary Silvers; Kathy Villa and husband Danny; Chuck O'Connor and wife, Sheila; Jim O'Connor and wife, Vickie; and Mickie O’Connor; loving sister of Lee "Tootsie" Reeves and late siblings, Frank, Jimmy, Tommy, Billy, Adele and Patricia Ralston. Also survived by ten grandchildren, Peggy and Lauren McClintock; George Phelps; Katie Bizhev; Isabeau, Angelique, and Alexis O'Connor; Troy Glidden; Kate Taylor and Travis Ramirez; and two great grandsons, Joey Buchanan and Charlie Aggen.

Inspired by her own efforts after providing end-of-life care to her mother-in-law, Dr. O’Connor returned to the nursing profession and earned three degrees, a Master of Science in Nursing, a Doctor of Nursing Science and a Ph.D. in Gerontological Studies. Dr. Cathy went on to help found the Master of Science Gerontological Nursing program at the University of Maryland, School of Nursing.
