Diane E. Simmons

April 7, 1951 — May 18, 2021

Diane E. Simmons, age 70, of Bel Air, Maryland passed away on May 18, 2021 at her home.
She was born in Baltimore, Maryland to parents Walter Simmons Sr. and Evelyn (Warns) Simmons. She worked as an administrative assistant for the U.S. Government while continuing her education, something she took pride in. Her line of work allowed her to discover a passion for traveling, sending her to Ireland (twice), London, and to many sandy beaches with her son. She loved to listen to classic rock, including the Beatles, and never missed a chance to watch or listen to the Baltimore Orioles. In her free time, she enjoyed reading mystery novels, watching "who-done-it’s", and working on her family tree by keeping detailed genealogy records. Diane was known to be a handy-woman and could fix just about anything in or out of her home.

Diane is survived by her son, Richard Herbert and his fiancée, Colleen Smith; sister, Edith Sells; brother, Bernard Simmons; her fur babies, Bailey and Lori; and nieces and nephews, Hudson Lane, Cooper Lane, Eli Fouse, John Lane and Katie Simmons.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Walter Simmons, Jr. and her ex-husband of 23 years, John Richard Herbert.

In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the Baltimore Animal Rescue & Care Shelter (BARCS) or an animal rescue of your choice as Diane loved animals and was an advocate for adopting pets.

In addition, please share a memory or a story about Diane on her memory page so others can read it and continue to smile as she always made everyone else smile with her kindness.
