David Pat Miller

September 9, 1938 — November 24, 2021

On November 24, 2021, Major David Pat Miller (Pop), beloved husband of Sharon Ann Miller, passed away at the Perry Point VA Medical Center Hospice Unit after a long illness.


Mr. Miller was born in Paduka, KY in 1938. Mr. Miller was the recipient of the Life Boy Scout award and would later in life earn the title of Scout Master.


Mr. Miller was an American Hero who retired after 20 years of service in the United States Army serving our great country, achieving the rank of Major. Major Miller considered it an honor to serve his country and proudly served two tours of duty in Vietnam and Germany. He was the Company Commander for the 11 Cavalry Armor Brigade. Major Miller received various battle recognitions including the Vietnam Service Ribbon, Meritorious Service Medal, and 3 Air Medals.


After completing his military commitment, Mr. Miller continued his education and professional career in the private sector as a Reliability Engineer for various Defense Contractors throughout the United States. Mr. Miller was highly sought after as he was a master in his field offering an in-depth knowledge and experience with armored vehicles, specifically the Bradley Fighting Vehicle and M-1 Tank.


After retiring, Major Miller settled in Joppa, MD with his wife Sharon. He remained active after retiring, coaching little league baseball and Scout Master. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, was a master at crossword puzzles, and proudly read every Louie Lamoure book written. Major Miller was a fan of the Baltimore Ravens and Dallas Cowboys.


Major Miller was a lifetime NRA member, in addition to being a life member of the American Legion Post 17 in Edgewood, MD and Prince of Peace Catholic Church.


Major Miller is survived by his wife, Sharon, of 34 years; his children, Dallas Miller and wife Lorena of KY, Kay Porath (Miller) and her husband Bill of San Diego, CA, David Miller and wife Kelly of KY, and Curt Miller and wife Lisa of Ontario, Canada. Major Miller was the proud stepfather of James F. Eisner of Joppa, MD, Andy Eisner and wife Robyn of Jarrettsville, MD, Aaron Miller and Kaitlynn of Aberdeen, MD and Shawn Miller of North Carolina. He is also survived by his brothers, Charles Miller of KY and Jeff Holland, and sister Jan Land of TX.


Major Miller was the proud grandfather to 15 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.


In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his stepson, Timothy Eisner and grandson, Joshua Eisner of MD.


In lieu of flowers, the family is asking for contributions to be made to Prince of Peace Catholic Church 2600 Willoughby Beach Road, Edgewood, MD 21040.
