Clifton A. Milway

April 22, 1921 — June 21, 2011

Clifton A. Milway, age 90, of Bel Air, MD, passed away on June 21, 2011 at Upper Chesapeake Medical Center in Bel Air, MD. Born in Fork, MD, he was the son of the late James Hall and Rose Doyle Milway and husband of the late Juanita B. Milway. He served his country honorably in the U.S. Army and was a WWII veteran. He had been employed as a lineman with BGE from July 1, 1946, until his retirement 40 years later, on April 30, 1986. He was the first in the area to own and operate a pit beef business, serving the community the "finest" pit beef which included the Moose Lodge, VFW, and the American Legion, where he was a member of all. He also served private parties, The Arts and Crafts Festivals, The Fall Festivals of St. Margaret's and St. Francis de Sales, at which he was a parishioner of both. He volunteered for the Town of Bel Air where he helped with the fireworks display on the 4th of July, as well as, assisting in placing Christmas decorations on both Main and Bond Streets. He coached and managed Bel Air Little League and Babe Ruth League, and was the recipient of the Red Cross Merit Award and Certificate of Honor which was signed by President Ronald Reagan for sustaining a human life.

Mr. Milway is survived by his daughters, Paula Rhae and her husband, Robert L. Picard of Aberdeen, MD and Beverly Shenton of Bel Air, MD; sisters, Agnes York, Louise Burton, and Delores Combs; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents and wife, he was predeceased by his brothers, Leon, Harold, and Ralph Milway and his sister, Teresa Townsley.

Service and interment will be private.

Pallbearers will be Robert Picard, Marc Morrison, Rick Plantholt, Josh Plantholt, Bob Cherel, and Joe Fabian.
