Charles Wesley Tyson

March 16, 1927 — January 18, 2004

After a six month illness, CHARLES WESLEY TYSON, age 76, died at his home in Bel Air on January 18, 2004 of complications resulting from West Nile Virus. A lifelong resident of Harford County, he was the son of the late Alfred and Helen Tyson, and was the husband of Carrie L. Magness Tyson, with whom he would have celebrated forty years of marriage this year.

At a young age, Mr. Tyson began his 38 year career in the family business with Standard Equipment, Inc. on Emmorton Road in Bel Air. He served in the Maryland National Guard for ten years as a Master Sergeant. More recently, he was employed by Shane Company of Havre de Grace, MD where he worked until he was stricken with the virus in August.

A skilled craftsman, he enjoyed woodworking and he hand-crafted fine furniture for his family. He also enjoyed snow skiing, golf and time at the family condo in Bethany Beach, Delaware.
A man of strong Christian faith and character, Mr. Tyson was a member of Mountain Christian Church for 50 years. He served as an elder, a trustee, co-chairman of the building committee for the present sanctuary, and was directly involved in all recent expansion programs.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by son, Larry Tyson and wife, Paula of Charlestown, Maryland; daughters, Dianne MacLeod and husband, Joseph of Havre de Grace, Pamela Lawhon and husband James of Bel Air; and Suzanne Lambert and husband, Randy of Bel Air. Beloved grandchildren are Jacob and Cali Tyson; Armin Pfleiderer and Cassie Schuster; Kyle, Anton, Tamara, and Reed Lawhon; and Taylor and Maddie Lambert.
He is also survived by brothers, James Tyson of DeSota, Texas; William Tyson of Babson Park, Florida; Robert Tyson of Loxahatchee, Florida; sisters, Hazel Anderson of Havre de Grace; and Carol Smith of Cambridge, Maryland. He was preceded in death by a brother, Edward Tyson.

Pallbearers will be: Ellsworth Cunningham, Thomas Adams, Jr., Dewey Barker, Mark Richardson, Don Sheffy, and Jeff Qwens. Honorary pallbearers will be the Elders of Mountain Christian Church.
