Charles Shannon Yow Sr.

Charles Shannon Yow Sr., 87, of Gastonia, NC, passed away on February 4, 2015. Born in Greenville, SC, he is the son of the late George Henry and Carrie Ann Shannon Yow. Charles left high school early to join the war effort in WWII at 17 years old. He was in the Navy and received his honorable discharge after the war. He moved to Maryland and married Lenna Oral Williams. They were married for more than 65 years and raised their family in the Baltimore suburbs. Charles was loved by his family and those he worked with and retired at the age 67. He later moved back to Gastonia/ Cramerton where he was raised as a boy and held many wonderful boyhood memories. Charles had a long life and his family was so blessed to have had him here for almost 88 years. He will be missed and loved always.

Charles is survived by his beloved family, wife Lenna Yow, sister Betty Jo Featherston, daughter Cheryl Moculski, son Chuck Yow, granddaughters Jennifer Inglis, Amanda Evans, Christina Mitchell, Carrie Yow, great grandchildren Liam and Maclin Inglis, Brayden Evans, and Nolan Mitchell. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his sister, Dorothy Silver.
