Charles Robert Helmer

Charles R. Helmer, age 84, of Selbyville, DE passed away on January 14, 2023 at his home. Born in Manhattan, New York he was the son of the late Charles and Amelia Helmer. He served as a cook for the US Army and was a devoted pipe fitter at Lever Brothers Company for 38 years.

On June 2nd, 1963 he married Theresa Marie Pizza. Together they raised two sons, Charlie and John and one daughter, Susan. Charlie was a devoted husband, father, brother, brother-in-law, uncle and grandfather. He had a strong love for sports which he channeled through coaching basketball, football and baseball for his kids. He enjoyed sport fishing, laying on the beach, and spending time with his family.

Mr. Helmer is survived by his wife of 59 years, Theresa Helmer; sons, Charlie and John Helmer; daughter Susan Poole and husband, Steve; granddaughters, Emileigh, Tessa, and Grace Anderson; sister Linda Kramer and children, Russel Kramer and Tammy Buss; sister-in- law, Nancy Wisneski and children, Michael and Nancy Lee Esposito.
