Carol L. Campbell

October 29, 1939 — January 6, 2019

Carol Annette (Ladd) Campbell, 79, passed away peacefully on January 6, 2019 at Cokato Manor Nursing Home in Cokato, MN. She was born October 29, 1939, in Raleigh, North Carolina, the oldest daughter of the late James and Hilda (Jones) Ladd. She was predeceased by her husband William (Bill) Parsons Campbell of 31 years. She was baptized in 1947 in a lake in Wake Forest, North Carolina.

Left to cherish her memory are daughters, Donna Janus and husband, Steve of Hutchinson, MN and Debbie Robertson and husband, Donald of Virginia Beach, VA; sisters Rebecca DiNuoscio and husband, William and Mary Cacano and husband, Tony; grandchildren, Kyle and Sean Robertson, and Bradley and Brian Janus; one step son, two step daughters, two nieces, one nephew, numerous cousins, and close friends.

As a young child, Carol’s family moved from North Carolina to Maryland where she attended elementary and high school. After high school, she attended a Methodist college for a degree in language. After graduating from college, she traveled to Europe to work as an interpreter and then returned to the Washington D.C. area for other job opportunities.

On April 1, 1963, she married Jay Warren Bixby in Washington D.C. This marriage was blessed with two daughters. After this marriage dissolved, she married William Parsons Campbell on October 20, 1984.

Carol and William (Bill) enjoyed traveling all over the world. Their travels took them to Hawaii, Spain, the Amazons, Alaska and other exciting places. They were married 31 years before Bill passed away.

Carol loved working as a secretary at the Baltimore Community College, Northern Virginia Community College, and later the American Red Cross where she retired. She was an avid animal lover, particularly, cats. She was often referred to as the female Dr. Doolittle with her ability to connect and care for all kinds of animals (squirrels, possums, raccoons, etc.).

In November 2015, Carol moved to Cedar Crest Estates Assisted Living in Silver Lake, MN to live near her daughter, Donna. She loved the people and staff at Cedar Crest Estates and the gorgeous view of Silver Lake.

In October 2018, Carol moved from Cedar Crest Estates to Cokato Manor Nursing Home. She was very happy at Cokato Manor until she passed away on January 6.
