Betty Ann Hopkins

Betty Ann Hopkins, age 79, of Abingdon, MD, died on February 13, 2011 at Upper Chesapeake Medical Center in Bel Air, MD. Born in Great Neck, Long Island, NY, she was the daughter of the late William James and Dorothy Eleanor Chivers Harney. She had worked as an office manager for J. Vinton Schaeffer Construction. Betty Ann enjoyed spending time with her family and will be remembered for her extreme generosity to all. She was a cherished sister who lovingly cared for her younger siblings, as well as, a cherished mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.

Mrs. Hopkins is survived by her husband of 62 years, Webster Lamar Hopkins of Abingdon, MD; son, Lamar O. Hopkins and wife, Sandra of Abingdon, MD; daughter, Suzanne K. Barbado and husband, David of Forest Hill, MD; brothers, John Harney of Melbourne, FL, Michael Harney of Reisterstown, MD, and Robert Harney of Dickerson, MD; sisters, Mary Klein of Clearwater, FL and Lucille Norton of Richmond, VA; 15 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her grandparents, Arthur Chivers and Julia Anderson.

Pallbearers will be Craig, Nathaniel, Nicholas, and Michael Barbado, Caleb White, and Thomas McNeil.
