Baron "Barney" Lynn Edwards

June 29, 1949 — September 8, 2022

On September 8, Baron was taken Home in the loving arms of his Lord and Savior. His family was at his bedside.


Baron graduated from Bel Air High School in June 1967, and enlisted in the US Marine Corps. He completed basic training at Camp Lejuene, SC, and earned the Sharpshooter Medal; he received special training in Landmine Warfare and Demolition; and transferred to Vietnam. He was wounded and sent to Bethesda Naval Hospital, MD, for additional surgery, recovery and rehab. Baron received an honorable separation and discharge retirement at the rank of Corporal in October 1968. He received a Purple Heart; National Defense Service Medal w/1 star; Vietnamese Campaign Medal; and the Good Conduct Medal.


Baron began his civilian career with the Federal government as a typewriter repairman and locksmith at Edgewood Arsenal, MD. After his retirement, he participated in several business ventures.


Baron enjoyed golfing with his nephew and friends; hunting; woodworking; gardening; maintaining his well-manicured lawn and surrounding property in the spring/summer; plowing snow for his family and neighbors during the winter; and spending casual time with friends and family.


Baron is survived by a dear friend and companion, Colleen Sloan; a son, Paul Edwards and his wife, Angie, TX; a sister, Jean Buckholtz and her husband, Dale, Aberdeen, MD; a niece, Teresa Weinstein, Rockville, MD; a nephew, Christopher Buckholtz and his wife Dr. Mary Beth Craig-Buckholtz, Bel Air, MD; and several great nieces and nephews, cousins, and many friends.
