Audrie C. Oates

Audrie C. Oates, (nee Kempter) age 91, of Abingdon, Maryland passed away on June 2, 2021 in Bel Air, Maryland. Born in Baltimore, Maryland, she was the daughter of Charles and Dorothy Kempter and wife of the late John Raymond Oates Sr. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her sister, Betty Kempter.

Audrie is survived by her son, John R. Oates, Jr.; her daughter, Laurie (Steven) Slizewski; grandchildren, James R. (Kelly) Oates, Kelly (Daniel) Vazquez and Renee Oates and sister, Joan Hardee. Audrie’s great grandchildren, Brantley Vazquez and Grady Vazquez brought a huge smile to her face.

“Audie” was a Yankee Doodle baby, born on July 4, 1929. A proud alumni of Seton High School, she retired from Loyola College, where she worked for 35 years. She loved bowling and is in the Women’s Bowling Hall of Fame. She was deeply involved in the Youth Bowling Association of MD. A true Baltimorean, she was an avid Baltimore Orioles, Baltimore Colts, Baltimore Stallions and Baltimore Ravens fan.
