Funeral Service Assistant

The Funeral Service Assistant provides support to the funeral home staff in delivering compassionate, professional, and respectful services to families during their time of need. This position assists with funeral, memorial, and graveside services, as well as other related tasks to ensure smooth operations and dignified care.


Key Responsibilities:
· Assist funeral directors with all aspects of funeral and memorial services.
· Prepare and set up chapels, visitation rooms, and service areas (arranging flowers, chairs, photos, and other items).
· Escort and direct guests during visitations and services.
· Carry floral arrangements, caskets, and other service-related items.
· Drive funeral vehicles in a safe and professional manner.
· Maintain cleanliness and readiness of funeral vehicles, equipment, and service areas.
· Support families and guests with compassion, respect, and sensitivity.
· Assist with administrative or facility tasks as assigned by the Funeral Director.
· Follow all safety, health, and legal requirements related to funeral service operations.


Qualifications:
· High school diploma or equivalent required.
· Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
· Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
· Ability to handle sensitive and emotional situations with professionalism, empathy, and confidentiality.
· Reliable, punctual, and able to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
· Physical ability to lift, carry, and move up to 25 lbs
