Pilar Oculto Greffenreid, age 85, of Edgewood, MD, departed this life on September 7, 2009 at Franklin Square Hospital in Baltimore, MD. Born in Manila, Philippines, of the late Alejandro and Eullia Culanding Oculto she was the youngest of 4 daughters and loving wife, for 31 years, of the late Calvin C. Greffenreid. Pilar always put family first and had the gentlest, loving and caring spirit that was reflected in everything she did. Raising eight children during a difficult era her struggles and sacrifices were immense, but her strength and faith overcame all obstacles. Pilar became a United States citizen in 1955 and was extremely proud of this, but never abandoned her Filipino heritage. A member of the Prince of Peace Catholic Church, she enjoyed playing bingo, slot machines and enjoyed watching her Baltimore Orioles baseball. She touched the lives of many and the world is a better place for the honor of having her for almost 86 years. Her struggles are over and she's now getting the peace and rest she has more than earned.
