Mary Jane Keller

July 4, 1945 — March 30, 2018

Mary Jane Keller, age 72, of Baltimore, Maryland passed away on March 30, 2018 at the Senator Bob Hooper House in Forest Hill, Maryland. Born in Houston, Texas, she was the daughter of George and Flossie Jane (Davis) Mitchell. She was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force where she served during the Vietnam War. She received her Bachelor of Arts in Sociology and was employed with the Maryland State Highways in the Regional and Intermodal Planning Division. Her major work was as SHA liaison for the Enhancements Projects and for Earmark Projects funded by Congress for projects in Maryland. She retired in 2011 after 31 years of service. She enjoyed crafts which included crocheting, making beaded Christmas ornaments, sewing clothes for her children, and making quilts for her grandchildren. She was active in the Baltimore Heritage Quilters Guild. One quilt that was very special to her was one she designed from pieces her mother picked out before her death. She also made jewelry where some of her designs were sold in a local boutique. Her greatest works of art were her needlepoint projects which included framed wall hangings, pillows, Christmas stockings, eyeglass cases, wallets and accessories for stuffed animals. She won quite a few ribbons for her needlepoint at the Maryland State Fair. Her most devoted friendships were the ones that she made while needlepointing. Mary cared about the community that she lived in. She was an active board member on the homeowner’s association up until her death.

Ms. Keller is survived by daughter, Rosaline Joyce Weinstein (Steven); son, David W. Keller (Sandra); three brothers, Michael L. Mitchell, George J. Mitchell, David C. Mitchell; and eight grandchildren, Dayne N. Weinstein, Alec R. Weinstein, Austin W. Keller, Trista A. Keller, Erika L. Keller, Kristen S. Keller, Corey A. Keller and Kaden D. Keller.
