James Canami

James (Jim) Louis Canami passed away at his home in Elkton, Maryland on Monday, October 16, 2017. He is the husband of Mary Angeline Adkins Canami to whom he was married for 43 years. He was born in Fort Sill, Oklahoma on December 21, 1952 to parents, Anthony Canami, Sr. and Sakae Kobayashi Canami who predeceased him. Jim was a longtime resident of Harford County until recently moving to Elkton.

Jim attended, and later graduated from, Aberdeen High School after attending high school in Hawaii for a time while his father was stationed there while serving in the U.S. Army.
Jim met and eventually wed his wife, Mary Angeline, while working at Bata Shoe Company. They were joined in holy matrimony at the Aberdeen Proving Ground Catholic Church. In this union, they were blessed with one child, Shannon Darnell Canami. Jim loved and cherished his daughter dearly and was extremely proud of all of Shannon’s activities which included gymnastics and many of her accomplishments.

Jim worked for DSI for 22 years which was located at APG, Maryland.
Jim was a devoted husband and father, and believed very strongly in ideals of family. During Jim’s earlier years, he enjoyed working on cars and later on in life, gained an appreciation for deer hunting.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Shannon Darnell Canami, and his sister, Theresa Canami Heckrotte.

James leaves behind to cherish him and the memory of his life: his wife, Mary Angeline Adkins Canami; his brother, Anthony Canami, Jr. and his two children, Jessica Canami and Joshua Canami; his sister, Margaret Canami Wilson with husband William E. Wilson and their children, William E. Wilson V, Justin A. Wilson, Tyrease N. Wilson and Alexis A. Wilson; sister, Toniette Canami; great nephew, Marcus Anthony Canami-King; brother-in-law and his wife, Gary and Ann Adkins of Fredericksburg, VA; sister-in-law, Sharon Brady of Tennessee and her children, Jamie Bartel and Heather Jarvis; sister-n-law and her husband, Glenda and David Montler of Port Deposit, MD and her children, Sherrie Williams and Seon Davis; brother-in-law and his wife, Joey and Lori Adkins and their children, Cody and Dakota of Colorado.
