Obituary for James A. Poole Sr.

James A Poole Sr., age 86, of Joppa, MD passed away on September 7, 2018 at Upper Chesapeake Medical Center in Bel Air. Born and raised in Sparta, NC, he was the son of William Beale Poole and Bina Elizabeth (Edwards) Poole and husband of 62 years to the late Anna Sue (Osborne) Poole until her death in 2012. When he first came to Maryland he worked at Martin Marietta. He moved to Harford County in 1963, and later retired from the Diecraft Division of Bausch & Lomb. He was an amazing mathematician, loved NASCAR and the Indy 500, but the most important thing to him was his family.

Mr. Poole is survived by daughters, Lisa D. Berkebile and husband, Bob, and Sondra Magness and husband, Bob; son, James A. Poole, Jr. and his wife Pauleen; brother, Ralph B. Poole and wife Peggy; grandchildren, Michele Magness-Hill and husband Matt, Jonathan Magness, Joshua Poole, Matthew Berkebile, Ryan Berkebile, Zachary Poole; and great-grandchildren, Grace Magness, Hannah Hill and Layton Hill.

Visitation will also be held in Sparta, NC at the Grandview Memorial Funeral Home on Saturday, September 15 from 6-8 pm. Service will be on Sunday at 2 pm and interment will be at Sparta Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the National Stroke Association, 9707 East Easter Lane, Suite B, Centennial, CO 80112.
