Jacob Philip Ketner Sr.

Jacob Philip Ketner Sr., 87, of Joppa, MD passed away on September 27, 2017 at Seasons Hospice at Franklin Square in Baltimore, MD. Born in Reading, PA, he was the son of Jacob Bill and Annie Ketner and husband of the late Barbara Anne Nester Ketner.

Mr. Ketner is survived by his children, Sandra Lee, Barbara Ann, Jacob Philip and David John; grandchildren, Kenneth, Jason, Christina; Jeremy, Angela, Joshua, Robert., Daniel, Virgil, Victoria, Anna and Katie: great-grandchildren, Nicole, Ethan, Ireland, Gunner, Kora, Garrett, Joshua, Jeremiah, Ashley, Robert, Jayden, Abby, Tyler, Kylie, Patrick and Colin; and great-great-grandchildren, Jackson and Liam.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by his daughters, Deborah Ann and Cindy Sue. Grandsons, Philip and Jacob.

Jacob, known by many, as Phil, retired from Bethlehem Steel after 30 plus years. His work ethic was impeccable and he was proud to work his way up in the mills to manager. He fished, crabbed, and hunted with his sons and friends in his younger years. Then his passion became golf enjoying his friendships from Sparrows Point Country Club to the clubs in Harford County. Making new friends and never forgetting the old friends. Jacob was a history buff and enjoyed talking history with those like minded. He respected nature in all its glory. Evident by flowers and vegetables planted and shared by him every year.
