McComas Funeral Home Holds Life Planning Seminar 

On May 5, a Life Planning Seminar was held at McComas Funeral Home in Abingdon. The presentation brought together experts in the fields of Estate Law, Care Giving, Pre-Planning of Funerals, and Grief Support. The event hosted 60 attendees who heard presentations by the various experts. The Life Planning Seminar was the latest in outreach events that McComas sponsors throughout the year.

Thanksgiving Turkey Day Trot

Once again, McComas Funeral Home has partnered with the YMCA of Maryland, to help sponsor the annual Thanksgiving Day Turkey Trot that was held at the Ma and Pa Trail in Bel Air. This race marks the fourth year that the funeral home has helped to sponsor the event. Even though the morning was cool and somewhat wet, the event drew over a thousand participants and raised several thousand dollars for the YMCA of Maryland.

Longwood Gardens Bus Trip

     On May 28, 2010, McComas Funeral Home sponsored its annual Widow/Widower bus trip to Longwood Gardens in Kennett Square, Pennsylvania. This annual trip is meant to bring together families who have recently lost a spouse, and to offer them a day out at the Gardens. McComas Funeral Home has sponsored such trips for the past 5 years. Holly McComas Pennington, who coordinates the trip, says “we enjoy the fact that we are able to do something like this in an effort to give back and allow for folks to gather in a relaxed and beautiful setting. It has been so well received over the years, that we intend to continue this tradition for years to come.”
