Howard K. McComas III
Howard K. McComas III was born on December 6, 1943 in Harford County, Maryland. He is the son of Howard Kennard McComas, Jr. and Nena Sewell McComas. Howard was raised in Abingdon at the old McComas Funeral Home, one block from the present McComas Funeral Home building. Howard graduated from Edgewood High School in June 1961 and began serving his funeral director and embalmer apprenticeship under his father at the McComas Funeral Home. He attended Eckles College of Mortuary Science in Philadelphia and graduated in March 1964.
Howard is very active in his community. He has been a member of Cokesbury United Methodist Church since 1954 and currently serves on the Board of Trustees. In 1959 Howard became a member of the Abingdon Volunteer Fire Company where he is still a member and served as Assistant Chief for five years in the late 1960's and early 1970's. Howard, along with his wife Judy, live in Abingdon.
In 1971, Howard and his mother Nena, formed the Howard K. McComas III Funeral Home at the present location.

Howard K. McComas IV
Born and raised in Abingdon, Maryland, Howard K. McComas IV is part of the sixth generation of the McComas Family in funeral service. He is a 1985 graduate of Edgewood High School. After high school, Howard attended Lynchburg College and later Appalachian State University in Boone, North Carolina, where he received his B.S. degree in Business Administration.
Howard is active in the community, serving on the board of directors at the Boys and Girls club of Harford County and previously serving on the Board of Trustees for Harford Community College.
Howard enjoys coaching both of his sons in basketball and lacrosse.
Howard is president of McComas Funeral Home. He lives in Bel Air, Maryland with his wife, Cheryl, and his sons Howard V (Quentin) and Reagan.

Holly Kimble McComas, CFSP
Being part of the sixth consecutive generation of funeral directors in her family, Holly Kimble McComas has grown up around the family business. Born and raised in Abingdon, Maryland, Holly is a 1988 graduate of Edgewood High School and then attended Salisbury State University where she earned a B.S. degree in Business Management in 1992. Holly furthered her education by attending Catonsville Community College earning an A.A. degree in Mortuary Science and has been a licensed funeral director and embalmer since 1994. Through continued education, she is a Certified Funeral Service Practitioner through the Academy of Professional Funeral Service Practice where she is a lifetime member. Holly is also a member of the National Funeral Directors Association, Selected Independent Funeral Homes, and the Delmarva Funeral Directors Association. Through her care and compassion for helping others, Holly has been active in the Abingdon Fire Company for most of her life. She has also volunteered her time to the Maryland Professional Volunteer Corps and the Maryland State Funeral Directors Disaster Response Team, where her father, Howard K. McComas III, was one of the founding members. Holly has been extensively trained in Mass Fatalities Incident Response and hopes that all the experience she has received in this field will, God willing, be in the training itself.
Holly has been an active member of the Maryland State Funeral Directors Association where she has honorably held positions on the Board of Directors as Secretary, Treasurer, and currently as President- Elect. She plans to proudly serve her fellow funeral directors and residents of the state of Maryland by serving as President of the Maryland State Funeral Directors Association for the 2011-2012 term.
Holly has put her competition days behind her and now continues her passion for horses through pleasure riding with her barn buddies. She finds joy in helping others through difficult times, and she is committed to carrying on the McComas tradition of her family serving your family. As part of the continuing care of helping the families after the funeral, Holly has been instrumental in starting programs at the funeral home such as the Widow/Widowers Bus Trip to Longwood Gardens and the Annual Service of Remembrance. With the compassion instilled in her by her ancestors, especially her late grandmother, Nena S. McComas, she strives to make a more meaningful experience for families served.

Stephen A. Hughes
Stephen A. Hughes was born, and grew up in, Harford Co., and graduated from Edgewood High School. Steve began his employment with the McComas Funeral Home, P.A. in 1972. He has earned his license as an Embalmer and Certified Funeral Service Practitioner. He graduated from Catonsville Community College, with a degree in Mortuary Science, where he has served on the Advisory Board. Steve attends St. Francis Catholic Church and is a member of the Abingdon Volunteer Fire Company. He and his wife, Laureen, have raised two sons, Adam and Ryan, and one daughter, Shelby. They have been very active in Youth Community Activities with the Emmorton Recreational Council, serving in various capacities in Baseball, Softball, Swimming, and Basketball. Steve has also served as a Wolf, Bear, and Webelos Cub Scout Den Leader, and as a Harford County 4-H Assistant Leader. Steve is also a member of the Maryland State Funeral Directors Association and the National Funeral Directors Association
Since 1996, Steve has assisted families in selecting and designing monuments and memorials to be placed at the site of their family members.

Charles A. Emge, Jr.
Charles A. Emge, Jr. is a 1985 graduate of Edgewood High school. He worked at the Panasonic Warehouse in Glen Burnie, Md for a few years and then moved on to work with the United Parcel Service in Dundalk, Md. After working at UPS, Charlie then began working for the Klein's Grocery Store chain as an Assistant Manager for a few years.
These different career backgrounds never would have pointed in the direction of funeral service; if it was not for the opportunity given by long time friend Howard K. McComas IV. Charlie has been employed with the funeral home since 1994. Graduated in 1997 from Catonsville Community College with a Mortuary Science Degree.
In October, 1998 Charlie married Lisa Ann Siptroth. They reside in Bel Air with daughter, Kelly Ann, and sons Eric Michael and Matthew James. When not spending time with his family he enjoys drawing and painting.

Jessica Weaver
Jessica joined the McComas Funeral Home family in January 2012. She was born and raised in Boonsboro, Maryland and upon graduation from high school she attended classes at Hagerstown Business College where she received her Phlebotomist Certification. After working in the lab for several years, she decided to pursue a different career and became a Certified Driving Instructor. Once she realized that she still wasn't happy in her profession, Jessica chose to go back to college. She obtained an Associate Degree in Psychology and Management from Hagerstown Community College. After she graduated college, Jessica was determined to follow her lifelong dream and become a Funeral Director. In 2011 she graduated from the Community College of Baltimore County with an Associate Degree in Mortuary Science.
Jessica enjoys football, basketball, and baseball. She is a season ticket holder for the Redskins and also likes going to watch the Terps and Orioles. She spends her free time as a Parent Volunteer at her son, Parker's, elementary school where she helps the children learn to read. For the past twelve years she has been an active volunteer for the Franklin "Wimp" Hamburg Memorial Scholarship Fund annual golf tournament and bingo. She also helps with coordinating the events as well as the fundraising.
Jessica is still a resident in Washington County but hopes to move closer to the McComas Funeral Home in the near future.
Robert D. Sherman
Robert Sherman, a lifelong resident of Harford County, is a 1964 graduate of Bel Air High School. He served in public law enforcement for over sixteen years with the Harford County Sheriff’s Department and Maryland State Police. A licensed auctioneer since 1969, he was employed by Michael Fox International and GoIndustry as an auctioneer and Director of North American Operations.
Bob and his wife, Carol, reside in Bel Air and are members of Bel Air United Methodist Church. They have a son, daughter and seven grandchildren.
Bob attended Harford Community College, Loyola College, Baltimore, MD and received a certificate as a criminal analyst from Anna Capa Science, Santa Barbara, CA.
In October of 2012, Bob completed a two year course of study at Pittsburgh Institute of Mortuary Science.
Bob joined McComas Funeral Home in 2009 where he currently serves as an apprentice funeral director.
Melissa Kennedy
Graduated from West Virginia Wesleyan College in 1999 with a Bachelor’s degree in Business. She then went to Pittsburgh Institute of Mortuary Science where she graduated in 2000. She became a licensed mortician in Maryland in 2001 while working in Montgomery County, and has also been licensed in Ohio, Virginia and the District of Columbia.
In 2005 she received her insurance license, and then started helping people to pre-plan their funerals.
Melissa and her husband Ken moved to Bel Air in 2005. They have 2 sons, Jaxon, born in 2007 and Wade born in 2012.
Melissa joined the McComas Funeral Home in 2007.
